Cash out
Turning your SN58 alpha into TAO, and TAO into money.
You don’t have to cash out. Alpha you keep staked keeps earning staking rewards. When you do want money, it takes two steps: alpha to TAO in your wallet, then TAO to money at an exchange.
- Sell alpha for TAOIn Wallet › Cash out (on the phone or at horizon.robotensor.ai) choose how much, check the quote, and sign it in your wallet app. It works even with no TAO in your wallet: the chain takes its fee from the alpha. Or do it in SubWallet or Talisman: open your SN58 alpha and choose Unstake (some wallets call it Swap or Sell). The TAO lands in the same wallet.
- Send TAO to an exchangeUse an exchange that lists TAO. Copy your TAO deposit address from the exchange and send the TAO there from your wallet.
- Sell for moneySell the TAO on the exchange and withdraw to your bank. Exchanges usually ask for an identity check first.
Never send alpha to an exchange
Exchanges accept TAO, not SN58 alpha. Alpha sent to an exchange address can be lost for good. Unstake to TAO first.
What you get
- Unstaking sells your alpha into the SN58 pool, so you get the pool’s price at that moment, minus the pool’s 0.05 % fee and the network fee (paid from your TAO, or from the alpha when you have none).
- Larger sales get a worse price, because each sale moves the price down a little. Cash out shows the chain’s own quote for your amount, and the lowest price it accepts: if the price falls more than 1 % before it’s in a block, nothing is sold.
- The chain keeps no stake smaller than 0.02 τ: if what would stay after a sale is below that, the chain sells it too, and Cash out says so before you sign.
- Prices go down as well as up. Nothing on this site is financial advice.
