Questions
Short answers to what contributors ask most.
Can anyone become a contributor?
Yes. Robotensor is designed to let people contribute using smartphones, without robotics experience. Some tasks and reward eligibility may depend on your country or device.
Do I need to own a robot?
No. You can control a simulated robot with your phone, or record everyday tasks. Robot control currently needs a computer screen in addition to your phone.
What phone do I need?
The app supports Android 10 or newer and iPhones running iOS 16.4 or newer, subject to device compatibility.
Some features work better with AR-capable phones. On other supported phones, robot control uses touch instead.
Can I really earn money?
Yes. Everything you do earns points, and every week a public contributor vault is split by points.
Your payouts collect in your Robotensor balance, and you can withdraw them to your own wallet. Cash-out to USDC or a card is coming through a licensed partner.
How much can I earn?
It depends on how much accepted work you and everyone else do: your share of the week’s points is your share of that week’s payout, and no one person gets more than 10% of a payout. No amount is guaranteed.
The weekly rewards page shows how past payouts were shared out.
Do I need special equipment?
Most tasks use your phone. Robot control currently needs a computer display. Recording everyday tasks needs a head or chest mount.
How do I know whether my work was accepted?
You can check the review result in the app. Rejected contributions include a reason. Questions can be raised with our community support team on Discord (opens in a new tab).
Can I contribute from my country?
Some tasks may be region-specific. Submit your country during registration to see which tasks are available to you.
Who is Robotensor?
Robotensor develops robot intelligence and the data infrastructure that helps robots learn. We also operate Attune, a robotics-focused network on Bittensor, where models and contributions can be evaluated.
Our goal is to make robot development more open and enable people around the world to participate.
Paths, points and payouts
What does “pilot” mean?
Access is invitation-only and opens in waves. You ask to join in the app and we approve each person.
When do my points count?
Robot control points count as soon as the run is verified; Recording points count once the recording is reviewed. Both are paid in the next weekly payout (weeks start Thursday 12:00 UTC).
Are Robot control and Recording paid separately?
No. Both earn points, and one weekly payout from one contributor vault splits the alpha by everyone’s points.
Do I need a wallet to start?
No. You get a Robotensor balance when you sign in and pair your phone. Link a wallet such as SubWallet, in the app or on the web, when you want to get paid. It takes about a minute.
What is the smallest withdrawal?
1 α. Smaller amounts roll over to the next payout. Robotensor pays the transfer fee.
Can I cash out to dollars?
Cash-out to USDC or a card is coming through a licensed partner. An identity check will be required then.
